History and Mission
The Lake Martin Humane Society was organized in October of 1982 for the purpose of preventing cruelty to animals. We planned to do this in two ways: by providing an Animal Shelter to care for unwanted animals, and by initiating various programs to teach the public about responsible pet ownership.
Nestled among 5,000 acres of east central Alabama’s broom sage fields, mixed hardwood and longleaf pine forests you will find Five Star Plantation. The plantation has been in existence as a hunting preserve since 1919, and the charming, fully-restored lodge and many other buildings date from that time or earlier. During hunting season, from October through April, Five Star serves as a world-class member’s only hunting resort. From May through September, Five Star welcomes guests looking for a private and secluded getaway. Escape the fast pace of today and enjoy the hospitality of Five Star Plantation.
DetailsLake Martin Dock Company, Inc. began building docks over 20 years ago first using wood as well as aluminum. We introduced the first aluminum docks to Lake Martin as well as our ‘4 Post Boat Lifts’ and was the first company fully committed to dock and marine construction. The company has evolved greatly since then. Today, we are a full service marine construction company that has the capability to build year round.
