Lake Norman the largest man-made lake in the Carolinas was created by Duke Energy in 1963 with 520 miles of shoreline and extend 33.6 miles north from the Cowans Ford Dam and is approximately 9 miles wide.
The Southern end of Lake Norman is just 17 miles North of Downtown Charlotte and 25 miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Centrally located between the NC mountains and beaches.
The Lake Norman Region offers mild, four-season climate. Located in the central part of North Carolina, the area is partially protected by the western mountain ranges from cold air. Fall tends to be the area’s driest season, with July tending to be the wettest month. Average temperatures range from the 50’s in December, January, and February to the upper 80’s in July and August and all the delightful days in between.
